    Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehabilitation

    Iroquois Memorial offers both Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Our highly qualified nurses will work with you and your physician to help you get back to your optimal level of activity.

    Cardiac Rehab

    Our goal is to provide comprehensive care intended to restore and maintain optimum physical, psychological, social, vocational, and recreational status in heart patients recovering from a recent cardiac event. Patients must be referred to the program by their family doctor or their cardiologist with a qualifying diagnosis. There are three phases to the program.

    Qualifying diagnoses include heart attack, bypass surgery, valve repair/replacement, angioplasty/stent, stable angina pectoris, and chronic heart failure.

    Structured cardiac rehabilitation offers several potential benefits:

    * Cardiovascular and general physical fitness
    * Enhanced quality of daily life
    * Reduced occupational losses and future health care costs
    * Enhanced self-confidence and self-image
    * Reduced blood pressure and heart rate at rest
    * Efficient cardiac response (only small heart-rate/blood pressure increases) to sudden physical or emotional demands
    * Improve physical stamina
    * Reduce the probability of having another or an initial heart attack; reduced probability a subsequent attack will be severe

    Pulmonary Rehab

    Iroquois Memorial's Pulmonary Rehab Program is designed to make life better for those living with chronic lung disease; obstructive or restrictive.

    Qualifying diagnoses include COPD and interstitial lung disease (fibrosis).

    The Pulmonary Rehab Program focuses on improving the quality of life for each patient. Together with the patient, a personalized therapy program with specific goals based on the patient's diagnosis, stage of illness and overall physical condition is designed. Through monitoring exercise and one on one education, patients make significant progress in their symptom management as well as allowing them learn to manage their activities of daily living.

Meeting are held at 1:00 p.m. in IMH first floor conference room on the second Thursday of every other month starting in February.
