||Understanding Birth is a prepared childbirth education class held the 1st two Monday nights every other month from 6:30-9:00 pm at no charge for parents delivering at IMH. Interested parents delivering elsewhere are welcome to attend at a fee of $35.00.
Led by a Registered Nurse from the Obstetric Department, this video based program provides a powerful teaching tool that features 3D animation, genuine birth footage, and illuminating parent commentaries. Understanding Birth provides expectant parents with important research-based information they need to prepare for their birth experience.
Topics include understanding of: pregnancy, labor, comfort techniques, medical procedures, cesarean birth, newborn care, and postpartum. There is practice and question time as well as a tour of the OB Department.
Our goal is to ease anxieties through knowledge by assisting the expectant mother and her labor support person(s) in preparing to have this "MIRACLE" be all that it can be!
